iTunes Festival! Fantastic and Free!

4:49 pm in Uncategorized by David Sandford

The iTunes Festival is running all through July with great bands playing every night including the Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Moby, Kasabian and many more! The festival offers a great chance to see some of the best live acts in the World, at The Roundhouse in London, one of the UK’s best venues. However, the very best thing about the festival is that it’s absolutely FREE!

All you need to do to gain a pair of free tickets to any of the gigs is to enter the prize draw for whichever bands you are interested in seeing. The entry process couldn’t be easier and who knows, you might be one of the lucky ones!

Lots of great bands have already played, but there are still plenty of great gigs available. You can still enter the competition for tickets to see Hard-Fi, The Wombats, Swedish House Mafia, Coldplay, Mogwai, Noah & The Whale, Lang Lang, Magnetic Man, Example, Chase & Status, Kasabian, James Morrison and Moby.

Don’t miss out on a fantastic (and FREE) opportunity!

“Dirty” Harry Callahan once said “You’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well do ya, punk?”. Dad Theory and the concept of “Father’s Day” (oh…and BBC Magazines Subscriptions 40% discount)

4:46 pm in Uncategorized by David Sandford

Don’t panic. Father’s Day isn’t until the 19th of June, you haven’t missed it. Your Dad still loves you. Probably.

So, this is an early look at a gift for Father’s Day. Officially the male counterpart to Mother’s Day, but often met with all the enthusiasm of a vegetarian at a hotdog eating contest.

Part of the problem with Father’s Day is that Dad’s don’t want anything. Try asking your Dad what he wants for a Birthday or Christmas and you’ll be met with a non-committal grunt or a shrug. Father’s Day is just the same. The fact is Dad’s are generally just happy to be left alone. Their best moments are those infrequent and treasured times when they’re not being pestered to finish off the tiling in the bathroom, being asked for the 10th time to mow the lawn or having kids beg them for money. Ten minutes in front of “Sky Sports News” or “Aerobics Oz Style” without being asked to complete a task or pay for something is generally more valuable to them than any number of “World’s Greatest Dad” mugs.

Money is the issue for Dads. Anything you buy them is seen as a waste of money, money that you could have spent on something more useful, or that you could have used to pay bills. This makes Dad’s very difficult to buy for on any occasion, but especially Father’s Day, when there’s no overriding theme like Christmas or a Birthday, other than the fact that they slept with your Mother, which is probably something you don’t want to dwell on.

Putting aside this rather cynical view of Father’s Day, while it may not be a big deal to a lot of people, it’s a great opportunity to do something nice for your Dad. If you fancy getting something a bit different than the usual chocolates or bottle of whiskey then BBC magazines are offering a discount of 40% on subscriptions to a number of titles including Top Gear Magazine and The Radio Times. A monthly magazine subscription would be something the Dad in your life would be able to appreciate throughout the year and not just for one day! Follow the link below to check out the subscriptions!

London Zoo Lates were hugely popular last year and the event has been brought back this year, even bigger and even better! Get ready for the wildest night out in London!

London Zoo Lates offers you the chance to party the night away at the zoo with a silent disco, twisted cabaret and animal demonstrations. Check out all of the zoo’s 750 species, or relax with a picnic and a cocktail!

If you book online for the event you can save 10% and groups of 10 can save up to 30%!
London Zoo Lates Discount!

Dates – 3rd June, 10th June, 17th June, 24th June

I’ve not been to London Zoo Lates, but I’m going this year and I can’t imagine it being anything less than amazing! It also seems entirely possible that after hours the animals will freely roam the zoo and converse with each other in passable English (a similar level to Fabio Capello at least). So I’m hoping to catch a bit of this on my London Zoo Lates experience!

Even if it doesn’t happen, I’m sure after a couple of cocktails and a picnic I’ll forget my disappointment very quickly!

What with various Bank Holidays and the small matter of a Royal Wedding coming up (is William’s hair going to last until the big day?!) this has turned out to be a short week! I’m sure a lot of you are pleased about the days off and are busy planning your Royal Wedding street party or (non)violent demonstration, depending on your feelings towards the Royal Family…

Domino’s Pizza Two for Tuesdays

4:41 pm in Uncategorized by David Sandford

For a number of centuries now human beings have carried out the important and entertaining practise of “eating”. So, it’s no real surprise that today;a run-of-the-mill Tuesday, some people will want to continue the habit of a lifetime and have something to eat.

Domino’s Pizza are aware of this and have catered for just such an occurrence with their “Two for Tuesdays” deal. The offer let’s you buy a pizza and get a second absolutely FREE! .

If you don’t think that’s good value then you are incredibly hard to please and I doubt we can ever truly be friends……perhaps vague acquaintances who occasionally cross each other’s path and exchange a thin lipped smile and a sad little nod, while thoughts of what our friendship might have been had we engaged in a Domino’s feast together drift hazily behind our glazed over, deceitful eyes.

Or maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Anyway…

The offer is only valid with medium or large pizzas (like any sane person would want anything smaller…) and the free pizza must not exceed the value of the first. The offer is valid on Tuesdays only (sometimes it’s fun to point out the obvious…) and is not valid with any other offer. This OPPORTUNITY is valid for a limited time only and is only available at participating stores. To order on the website you must click on the meal deals section and order from there.

Happy Eating. Long may it continue. Follow the link below to take advantage of the offer.

Eat yourself into a blissful Domino’s Pizza coma

All that is solid melts into air…(get a free air guitar with this blog post!)

12:58 pm in Uncategorized by David Sandford

Air Guitar is a force for world peace.

You probably didn’t think i was going to say that, did you? but it’s true…

If you’re looking for a free activity then there’s few better and more worthy than air guitar!

What other sport or art form can bring you a great work out and spiritual enlightenment at the same time?!

It is the last remaining sport devoid of product placement or financial reward and as such exists as the last true art form!

The most important thing to consider though (as we’re on Net Free Stuff… ) is that an air guitar is FREE! Think about it… You alone own your air guitar, you don’t have to buy it, you don’t have to maintain it, it’s yours and no one can take it away from you!
Now, if you think about it, that’s quite an empowering thing!

Air Guitar UK run yearly championships and are getting bigger every year, so if you fancy having a go then get involved here: http://www.airguitarchampionships.com/index.html

If you’re still reading (unlikely) and fancy yourself as a bit of an Air God (more likely), then take a look at this video about the wonderful world of Air Guitar in the UK and decide if you’ve got what it takes to challenge the best!

Freedom (The concept of) and travel (let’s go away for a while…)

12:29 pm in Uncategorized by David Sandford

At Net Free Stuff , our main aim is to bring you something for nothing. Whether it be a genuine freebie, or a percentage off of a product.

We want things that are free and we want them now!

With this in mind, lets look at the concept of “freedom”. Bringing you free stuff is great…but how can we set you free?

Dictionary.com defines freedom as:

free·dom
[free-duhm] Show IPA
–noun
1.
the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint: He won his freedom after a retrial.
2.
exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3.
the power to determine action without restraint.
4.
political or national independence.
5.
personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery: a slave who bought his freedom.

As such being free and the idea of freedom allow you to do what you want, go where you want to go and make your own decisions! Therefore the ability to travel and move “freely” from place to place is an important and necessary part of being free! Think of Net Free Stuff as a modern day emancipator, granting you personal and emotional freedom…

Throw off your shackles because our holiday deals will truly set you free! (At least for a week or two…in the summer…if Bill in accounts doesn’t take his holiday at the same time…and if you don’t go to Auntie Susan’s wedding in September…and if someone will look after the cats and….OH JUST CHECK OUT THESE DEALS WILL YOU??!)

We’ve got some fantastic Easter holiday deals and discounts at Net Free Stuff at the moment, so I thought I’d take some time to write about a few of them and spread the good word! With the combo of the Easter break and the Royal Wedding there’s a great chance to get away for a while and soak up some sun, because, let’s face it, the weather here is bound to take a turn for the worse! How could it not? We’ve got Bank Holidays AND a wedding! It’s going to pour down, so take a look through our offers and see what takes your fancy. Also remember to check our Holiday Deals page for a wider selection! You can find that at http://www.netfreestuff.co.uk/categories/holiday-deals/.

To start with, LastMinute.com have some fantastic Easter and Spring discounts to check out. If you’re looking for a city break or a cheap hotel for a couple of nights over the Easter Bank Holiday (i.e. if you’re trying to avoid going round to Gran’s for dinner) then LastMinute.com has a wide range of destinations at very reasonable prices.

If you’re looking closer to home, then Haven Holidays have some very reasonable getaways for the Easter Bank Holiday, especially if you’re travelling with the whole family. Haven are currently offering deals of up to 35% off family breaks!

Best Western are also getting in the holiday spirit by offering up to 50% off 50% off Sunday Saver rates and up to 30% off extended stay rates when you stay between 15th April and 3rd May 2011. Check out their Easter offers here

I hope you find what you’re looking for at Last Minute, Haven or Best Western, but if not keep looking through our other details in the Holiday Deals section and I’m sure you’ll find the break you’re looking for!

A Love Film Experience

10:13 am in Uncategorized by David Sandford

Love Film are offering a two week trial where you can sign up to a range of different packages including DVD, Blu Ray and video games rentals.

I’m writing about this Love Film trial as i genuinely think it’s a great deal! You can try out any of the available packages and you will not be charged unless you fail to return your films/games before the end of the trial. You can also cancel it at any time.

I recently got three months of Love Film from Groupon and I’ve just received my first two discs (“Frozen” and “Predators”, in case you’re wondering….both average to poor, in case you’re wondering!). The films arrived within a day of my subscription being confirmed, and i’m now ready to send the films back to Love Film, so I’m sure I’ll be sitting down to watch another couple of new movies within the next couple of days.

Now the fact I got two fairly underwhelming films shouldn’t be a cause of worry. I chose them, I got what i asked for! Love Film works on a list and priority system. You create a list of at least ten films/games/Blu Ray that you are interested in and then you can rank these appropriately in your Love Film account as to whether they’re “high”, “medium” or “low” priority. Films are then sent out depending on their availability and the priority you have given them. This should ensure you get something you want!

What I really like about Love Film is the freedom it gives you to chuck loads of different things onto a list that you’re at least fairly interested in and then offers you a slight lottery of what you’re going to get. It stops films from slipping through the net, things you missed at the cinema, things you’ve seen an advert or trailer for but never got round to watching! You can just stick them on your list at a medium or low priority and you know that if you’ve got through all the latest blockbusters they’ll still be there and you’ll get the chance to see them.

The return process for Love Film is also made very easy, with the DVDs arriving in a pre-paid envelope which you can re-seal and send back.

I can’t recommend Love Film enough! Give the trial a go and see for yourself.

Find Free Furniture & Household Items Online

3:55 pm in Uncategorized by Admin

If you need household items, chairs, tables and other household furniture and goods and you are on a budget there is no better time than now to grab some great gear for your home.

The emergence of several community led recycling networks online means you can find almost anything you want for your home these days for free.

And what’s more you will also be helping the environment by encouraging the recycling of reusable furniture, which is often in excellent condition and without any packaging to dispose of or in turn recycle.

So if you are looking for something for your home and you don’t mind something which is nearly new, why not take advantage of one of these great online recycling networks?

Two of the best known are:

Both of these groups operate on a community spirited voluntary theme and are often affiliated with local charities, non-profit groups and the like. What’s more you sleep easy knowing your new goods are environmentally friendly…

About Freecycle

Freecycle groups are operated by locally based volunteers.

The first UK Freecycle group was set up in London in 2003. There are now more than 490 groups nationwide with more than a million members so you will be joining a growing community online.

Freecycle groups aim to match people who have things they want to get rid of with people who can use them whilst promoting community spirit and environmental responsibility.

What’s more everything posted is free. Freecycle is an email group so you sign up and receive emails for the free stuff you want.

The advertiser decides who will receive the goods and arranges delivery. Simple.

About Freegle

Freegle is a similar national UK grassroots organisation with more than a million members who are giving and receiving free unwanted items in their immediate communities. Local charities, non-profit groups and communities are involved in many of the networks.

Similar to Freecycle Freegle operates on the premise that all goods should be free and legal and aims to improve environmental awareness and community spirit.

Freegle is an email list hosted on Yahoo! Groups where you can find everything from a piano to an old fireplace to a dining table and chairs.

No Catches

There are no catches. Increasingly people simply want to upgrade their stuff and get rid of existing items that are perfectly OK.

Often they want to give it away because it is in good condition and they want it to be used rather than thrown away. To speed things up they can give it away for free.

Remember, you may find other similar organisations operating locally, often charity based and offering really high-quality equipment and especially furniture.

So do some of your own research locally and save money by grabbing yourself household items and furniture for free. And remember to donate your unwanted items too!

How To Get Free Concert Tickets

3:54 pm in Uncategorized by Admin

Read on to find out how to go about snagging yourself free tickets to rock and pop concerts, dance clubs and other live music events as well as theatre, films, art shows and more.

First of all, you may be wondering who is going to give you free concert tickets for all these music events, concerts, entertainments and nights out?

Well, it may come as a surprise to some but actually quite a lot of people.

There are always opportunities to get free tickets for gigs and events and the best way to get them is by becoming a reviewer.

Most concert promoters, clubs, theatre events and other venues and events managers have free tickets to give away. To take advantage of these giveaways you can do one of two things: either contact the venue or the promoter of the concert.

It’s easy to find the contact details online for your preferred event organiser and ask if they have review tickets to giveaway.

They may then ask you who you will be reviewing the event for, so make sure you have some options to tell them. This may be your local newspaper, student newspaper or one of the many music and entertainment websites these days who are always crying out for students, aspiring or amateur journalists who want to review music events and other concerts and entertainments.

It’s pretty simple to get started.

Alternatively you may wish to contact your preferred publication first and try to get started that way around.

First find a contact telephone number or email for the editorial department of the music website or similar publication and see if they would be interested in receiving reviews in exchange for tickets.

They may already have tickets and events lined up that you might be interested in, everything from musicals, electro music gigs, plays and comedy.

Can I really get free tickets for all these sorts of events? Yes you can. Just pick up the phone, write or email and get started.

Sounds good? You bet it does.

In the meantime – why not bookmark our site as we will be bringing you loads more info in the future about grabbing free concert tickets.

Free Stuff For Families

3:48 pm in Uncategorized by Admin

Want free stuff to do for you and your family? If you know where to look there is so much free stuff for families to choose from in and around your local area, online or further afield. It’s up to you but it’s easy to take advantage of so much free stuff for families these days.

Need some ideas to get you started? Well here’s a few great things for free for families, including something, we think, for everyone:

Free Stuff For Kids Online

Need free games and activities for kids? Well, why not take advantage of the BBC’s great free children’s website that has tons of free video games, computer games and fun stuff for kids. It really is fantastic and is full of hundreds of free puzzles, animations, quizzes, video games and the like. You can make masks and art online, enjoy free downloads and enjoy interactive educational stuff on animals, nature, science and more. Visit: bbc.co.uk/cbbc/games/

Free Days Out At Your Local Museum & Art Gallery

It may be a surprise to some but many art galleries and museums are very family friendly these days and not the stuffy old places they used to be. As well as most museums and galleries being free there has been a big investment in British galleries and museums in recent years to make them more accessible to families, and that often means many free storytelling, art classes, adventure playgrounds and all sorts of free fun stuff on offer for kids and their mums and dads. Check your local listings and you are sure to find some great free days out and activities in your area. Remember free workshops and activities are available regularly throughout the year, especially in the school holidays, so it makes sense to check them out.

Free Fun In The Park

Most towns and cities have an abundance of great well maintained parks. Remember you don’t need expensive indoor activity centres for children to get out and about. Parks are a great place to enjoy some fun. Find conkers, feed the ducks, play football and hide and seek and learn about nature in the outdoors. And what’s more they are completely free! Many parks across the country have new up-to-date or refurbished adventure playgrounds and sports courts these days so there is really no excuse. Enjoy some outdoor fun for free!

Free DVDs and Games At Your Local Library

Likewise local libraries offer a plethora of great free stuff for families and kids, including of course – free books to borrow – as well as CDs, DVDs, video games, computer usage, internet access. Again they are certainly not the dull stuffy places they once used to be. Why not take advantage and keep your kids interested in stuff with a continual choice of new games, books and other free fun stuff to enjoy and play with? What’s more your local library offers a wealth of activities for free for children and families from storytelling, history groups, talks and activities for all ages. Many local libraries are also giving away free books as part of the Bookstart scheme. So again, it makes sense to take advantage of all that great free stuff on offer.

Free Swimming Lessons

Fancy a swim? Many public swimming pools now offer free swimming for youngsters and OAPs. There is also a plan to offer free swimming sessions at all council run swimming pools by 2012 under the Government’s Olympics legacy plans. It’s part of a programme to encourage sport as part of the UK’s successful Olympics bid. So no excuses, why not start splashing about for free?

We hope these tips provide some good ideas for free fun stuff for families. Remember, keep in touch as we are planning to post even more regular juicy free deals, ideas on freebies and how to take advantage of fun free stuff, covering a whole range of topics for families and folk of all ages.
